Ah HA! A new blog that isn't on livejournal. I am beginning to think I am a little old for that. I am starting to try to sell custom painted furniture. I could use the money, really, but I also think it will help me get a head start on my imaginary life. Unlike some people I could mention, but out of sheer good humor I won't, stuff like this just doesn't fall in my lap. So, I am taking the bull by the horns, as it were. Besides, painting is so relaxing (until something goes wrong and I am ready to throw that POS in the fire but don't because A) tables don't fit in my fireplace and B) burning paint tends to throw off toxic fumes and I'm not really ready for severe respiratory distress. Or death. Or whatever, you know.
My first piece of custom furniture is for myself, because I couldn't risk selling shit if it didn't work out. It's an homage to... well, to myself, but also to my 3 sisters. It's based off my last finished comic piece about a girl who is out of place in the world (think Amelie) and eventually turns into a bird to find her true happiness, her family. (Awwww... its so cute!) Yeah, you can stop crying now. So the image is the last panel, the four birds, happy and together again, sitting on a branch. I used the real woodgrain for the boughs and every thing else is quite cartoony and bright. It sets itself off nicely, I think. It's rather lovely, and I can't wait to get it into my living room! I'll post pics as soon as I get 'em.
I've got two more kind of crappy looking side tables that I am going to paint next (I think in a kind of mosaic pattern) and I hope to sell them for the big $$$! (You know, $35-40 a peice...)
